Chandra Vadhana is the first Indian woman to win Special Recognition at the Prestigious Empretec Women in Business Award, instituted by UNCTAD for the year 2018 for Social Entrepreneurship in empowering and enabling skills of women and girls.
She is one of the 25 Woman Change-makers of India and was awarded the title at the UN General Assembly Hall, Pales des Nations, Geneva on Oct 25th, 2018. She was selected by the US Govt to participate in TechCamp South Asia 2018, Dubai.
Union Minister for Trade and Commerce, Sri. Suresh Prabhu, awarded her the HiEERA (High Impact Entrepreneur from Emerging Regions for Action) award by Empretec India for 2018. She is one of the 8 women entrepreneurs from India on a three weeks’ fellowship as part of the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), fully funded by the US State Dept, May 2019.
She is a dreamer and doer, a multifaceted entrepreneur who likes to work on initiatives to create a sustainable future for the world. She has a double Post graduate degree in Management and Psychology and is now about to receive her PhD in Social Science (Open Defense pending at Cochin University of Science & Technology). Her PhD topic is “Assessment Of Critical Soft skills Of Management Graduates: Development And Standardisation Of A Psychometric Tool.” She has several academic publications in International and National journals in the field of HR, training, soft skills and employability. With over 15 years of professional experience in HR & Training, she has conceptualized and implemented various innovative initiatives in the field of education and training, especially in employability and career services.
She is trained and certified in Entrepreneurial competencies by UNCTAD Empretec in 2016.
She is a Master Trainer for Indian Career Education and Development Council (ICEDC) and has also undergone a Graduate Certificate Course in Career Education from Career Education Association of Victoria (Australia). She is also one of the Mentors at Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (KDISC). She regularly speaks at various institutions and lectures in the capacity of a guest faculty member in B-schools.
Her Social Initiative ‘Prayaana Labs’ is Kerala's first Employability, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab exclusively for women. Prayaana helps girls and women who want to kickstart their career after a break or want to set up a startup by providing mentoring, co-working space and other support. Prayaana hubs are being set up in various campuses throughout the state and help young girls as well as women after a career break to pursue their passion. Prayaana is now a community partner of Kerala Startup Mission and is also supported by various organisations as a hiring and training partner for their diversity and inclusion initiatives.
She is a feminist and works on initiatives on women empowerment. She has also launched www.shespeakers.com - A speaker listing website for women; www.pracol.com– An E-commerce platform for selling women entrepreneurs’ products and services; TechShakthi – India’s first Mobile app for employability and entrepreneurship learning for women and The Smile Café – A Youtube show for highlighting women leaders’ success stories.
Her goal is to empower one million lives by Dec 2030, through several of her training, skilling and entrepreneurship development initiatives. She is also a voice artist, radio host and a blogger during her free time. She is a well-known dubbing artist in Malayalam Film Industry. She has also been selected as one of the finalists at Grihalekshmi Mrs. Kerala 2018.
